The Carpathian Project
In its Carpathian Project, ISF München will develop a concept for the sustainable development of this Southeast European mountain region and analyse the resulting effects on employment in this region.
In co-operation with regional initiatives and with the support of the tourism-consultant FUTOUR, we will develop a concept for optimising the hut and trail infrastructure in the Fagaras Mountains (also called Transsylvanian Alps). New jobs are to be created – and existing jobs stabilised – for looking after and maintaining huts and trails, and for providing services for hikers. Qualification measures will complement the concept and ensure its sustainability.
The project is aimed at creating new employment prospects and at improving the personal lives of people living in the area within the framework of regional networks.
The Carpathian Project of the ISF München is a project within the European Carpathian Project of the INTERREG IIB/CADSES programme to which 19 partners, mostly from the Carpathian countries, contribute with their experience in sustainable regional development.
The practical knowledge gained in other mountain regions, in particular the Alps, will also be included in the project.

Im Karpatenprojekt des ISF München werden Konzepte für die nachhaltige Entwicklung dieser südosteuropäischen Gebirgsregion entwickelt und die sich daraus ergebenden Beschäftigungseffekte analysiert.
Gemeinsam mit regionalen Initiativen und mit Unterstützung eines Tourismusberaters wird in der Pilotregion Fogaraschgebirge in den rumänischen Südkarpaten ein Konzept zur Optimierung des Hütten- und Wegenetzes entworfen. So sollen für Versorgung und Wartung der Hütten und Wege und für die Betreuung der Bergwanderer (Beratung und Führung) neue Arbeitsplätze entstehen und vorhandene stabilisiert werden. Qualifizierungsmaßnahmen ergänzen das Konzept und sichern es dauerhaft.
Damit werden im Rahmen von regionalen Netzwerken neue Arbeits- und Lebensperspektiven für die einheimische Bevölkerung geschaffen.
Das Karpatenprojekt des ISF München ist ein Teilprojekt des Carpathian Project, in dem 19 Partner, zumeist aus den Karpatenländern, ihre Erfahrungen mit nachhaltiger Regionalentwicklung einbringen.
Weiterhin werden Erfahrungen aus anderen Gebirgsregionen, insbesondere den Alpen, in die Arbeit im Karpatenprojekt eingehen.
